| The Farm Unspoiled and rugged granite hills explain the meaning of ‘Felseneck’, a privately-owned bush savannah ranch in central Namibia. The diversity of the landscape makes it ideal for a variety of game and bird species. The 21 000 acres had served as cattle grazing ground for decades before being regained for hunting enthusiasts and nature-lovers by removing fences and establishing waterholes. To ensure a safe haven for reintroduced game species, a 12 350 acre game-proof area was established, with an outer fence, but no internal fences. The rest of the ranch has been left open for game that occurs naturally in the area. Built in 1948, the original farmhouse was modernized
to match the guesthouses and staff accommodation. Guests have a choice
of three comfortable double rooms with en-suite bathrooms. Dining provides
a more personal experience. Served outside under our thatched roof,
the ‘lapa’, or in the dining room, it usually consists of
venison prepared on an open fire and combined with Dutch and German
cuisine. |
